Character encoding is a set of rules for defining how text is represented on a computer.

CloudSign is compatible with two types of character encoding.

UTF-8 (with BOM and without BOM)

UTF-8 is a multi-language character encoding that can be used for machine dependent characters and foreign languages, and is generally used with MacOS and other operating systems.

Selecting (with BOM) for editing Excel files, and (without BOM) for other purposes means UTF-8 can be used without character corruption.

Shift_JIS

This is the character encoding that is generally used as the encoding for the Japanese language in Windows.

This encoding can be used for editing Excel files, however using non-Shift_JIS characters such as machine dependent characters or foreign languages can cause character corruption.
