The method used for concluding contracts is not limited to paper-based formats; other methods such as oral, email and online methods are also acceptable. This is referred to as the “Freedom of Contract Method.”

Freedom of contract method is permitted as one of the core principles of the freedom of contract underlying private law (such as civil law) in Japan.

When bothl parties concluding an agreement consent to a contract on CloudSign, and Bengo4.com, Inc. applies an electronic signature to the agreed-upon documents, there are no issues from the perspective of legal credibility, which means contracts can be concluded on CloudSign.
